Day Trip from Florence: Pisa & Lucca

Leaning tower w/ the Cathedral

Today was going to be a great day! It was our first day trip from a city which was going to be fun! I love the fact that you can get around via train everywhere in Europe! 1 hour to get from Florence to PIsa is totally amazing, and I'm sure that a lot of tourists do this (there were heaps on our train!)

Breakfast on the go!

The train ride there was packed, mostly with tourists (of course!) As soon as we got there it started raining, which was sad because we had so many funny shots to do with the leaning tower! haha. We decided not to climb the leaning tower of Pisa this time, as we had definitely climbed a lot of steps in this trip, and plus I didn't think there was going to be a good view from the top anyway!

We were in Pisa for about an hour. It took a half hour to walk there from the station, and then another half hour to walk back so we didn't spend a lot of time there. And, as soon as we started walking back to the station, it stopped raining… d'oh! Oh well we did get some good snaps so we were happy.

Haha free wi pi!

Selfie time!

And again!

Yes, the picture everyone has to take!

Still looks pretty!

Next stop was Lucca, a nice small city in Tuscany, which was recommended by one of my friends to come and see. It's about a 25 minute ride from Pisa. Lucca was so pretty, especially because the rain stopped and sun was out and it was beautiful! It's not as touristy as other places, which made it nice and relaxing. What was even better was that it was still within city walls! Kind of reminded me of the city walls in Xian, China. I regret that we didn't bike the city walls.. I totally wished we did!

Lucca Train Station

The train ride from Lucca back to Florence was about an hour and 20 mins, though I did see that there was more to see outside the window taking this route back to Florence. Beautiful landscapes with houses up in the mountains, the sun was shining, and it was amazing! We got back to Florence at about 7pm. I would say that it would be heaps better to spend more of your time in Lucca!

We took the scenic route home and went past Ponte Vecchio, taking more shots as the sun was going down. Perfect!

Watching a movie outdoors. So romantic but it was in Italian!

It was a great day and I'm glad that the weather got better!

Until then,
