Paris: Notre Dame Cathedral & Sainte Chapelle

Saint Chapelle in all it's glory!

It was our first day in Paris! It was raining, damp and humid but the sun came out during the day which was awesome!

We started our day going to the Latin Quarter, which I heard had awesome food! Of course we chose a French restaurant for lunch. There are so many places to eat around there we walking around for a bit! They have these cool lunch menus which consisted of entree, main and dessert which was good value! On the list of course was escargot. Lee got it for an entree and believe it or not, I tried one! Just one..! I kinda tasted like, hmm.. alot of butter and garlic and, mussels! One was enough for me but it was an interesting experience!

Love the balconies!

My very first escargot... interesting!

It was all about walking walking and walking! I totally agree that walking will get you lost and you will find some of the most amazing places and alleyways! Not good for the feet but it is a great experience! We walked to the Pantheon, which was near Latin Quarter and it looked exactly like the Pantheon in Rome! We chose not to enter (don't remember how much it was to get in!) I didn't even know it existed until I saw it on an map!

Me and the Pantheon

Next stop, was Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the only attractions in Paris that was free! The line was long, but it went fairly quickly. I would say there was a lot of chatter in the Cathedral which I personally found not cool but I guess it's hard to monitor when you have so many tourists coming in and out. Notre Dame was amazing and is definitely worth seeing!

Love the stained glass windows

Beautiful!

We walked to Sainte Chapelle which isn't far from Notre Dame Cathedral. The exterior isn't really worth talking about, but the interior was! It is a small and narrow church, but the stained glass windows were amazing! Unfortunately about a quarter of the stained glass windows were under construction so there was scaffolding inside. The line wasn't that long either, but there was a security screening before you enter.

Sainte Chapelle. You need a good camera!

Very long stained glass windows!

We walked past Pont Neuf, one of the oldest bridges in Paris towards Musee d'Orsay as it is open late (9pm) on Fridays. The line wasn't that long as we get there at about 5pm. It was a very big museum that our feet were killing after walking the whole place! It was a very good museum with a mixture of a lot of things! No photos were allowed unfortunately, except for I think 2 places in the museum.

Walking past the Lourve and decided to take a photo!

It was a long but eventful day for our first day in Paris. The weather was ok, the people were not rude, and there was something to see on every corner. Paris is.. amazing!

Until then,
