Paris: Arc de Triomphe & Pont des Arts

Pont des Arts

It was another fun and eventful day in Paris!

We started off going to Arc de Triomphe which is on the same road as Champs Elysees. It was another amazing monument in Paris. We got there before midday and the line was not long at all which was good! The problem though was that you had to climb stairs up! Yes, stairs! But we were used to it as we had climbed so many places in Europe and we wanted to climb the Arc de Triomphe. The views from above are beautiful. Champs Elysees looks amazing from above, and the photos are also good because you can take a photo of the Eiffel Tower in the background. Definitely recommend climbing up! It was also good because it wasn't that busy up above either! Oh, and the Arc de Triomphe also looked good close up. Detail was very intricate!

Beautiful Arc de Triomphe

We walked down Champs Elysees, holding our things tight as I heard it was a pickpocket area hehe. We had a quick bite to eat, and continued our journey down Champs Elysees. It was a nice stroll, as I was walking in and out of shops! We ended up at Place de la Concorde. Lee reminded me that it was in the movie 'The Devil wears Prada' and I was like 'OMG you're right!!'

Aww.. in the Devil Wears Prada where she drops her phone in the fountain!

Not too far from Place de la Concorde was Laudree, the founders of macarons! Unfortunately their cafe was closed for renovation but we decided to get takeaway macarons instead. We were so lucky, we got there with a bit of a line, and by the time we left, the line was out the door! We kinda went all out, and get the 24 pack so that we could get all the flavours. We went and ate them at the park and it was a party in my mouth! The salted caramel was so good!

Inside Laudree. Very..perfect!

Yay I got my package!

Mmmm.. Macarons!

After our quick rest, we headed on to Pont de Arts, the pedestrian bridge near the Lourve that had all the love locks! Of course we put our lock on there and threw it in the river! There's locks nearly everywhere but still space to put your lock! We bought ours in Australia as a friend said that they charge a lot for locks at the bridge. But there are souvenir stores nearby that sell some locks. To be honest, get an interesting lock so it can stand out! There were some cool ones there! We know for next time to buy an interesting lock to lock on our lock!

Lee with our lock!

Nearby was the Lourve and that was our next stop. We got there around 6ish as they are open until 9pm on Fridays. I thought Musee d'Orsay was big, but the Lourve was huge and we literally got lost in there! Mona Lisa was always the steal of the show there, but when we were there it was packed, and loud, and it kind of got away from the experience. We took some photos and got out of that area unfortunately! There were some good areas in the museum, but if you were to go, make a lot of time for it! That night though the Lourve closed an hour early, and we didn't know why!

The iconic Lourve

Look it's Mona!

We left the Lourve and started to walk around, and all of a sudden found a smallish concert going on in the streets. People were drinking and dancing and having a good time. We just thought that was normal for a Friday night. There was all different types of music happening on the streets. I decided to google what was happening when we got to our apartment and realised that Fete de la Musique was on, an annual dance party on the streets celebrating all types of music. Once we found that out, we went back out for the night and we had an awesome time! I would say I could hear music until 5am in the morning. What was weird was that the streets were so clean the next day, like it never happened. It was something that I won't forget!

Party time in the streets of Paris!

This place was playing awesome ol' school RnB!

Oh Paris, what else do you have in store for us? Can't wait for more!

Until then,
-V
