Goodbye Beijing. Hello Xi'an!

It was time to leave Beijing and I have to admit I will miss it dearly. I would say a week would be enough, but if you want to shop and are good at haggling, I would add a couple more days!

As soon as we checked out, we went straight to the airport as I didn't want a repeat of what happened last night when we couldn't get a taxi! It took us about an hour to get to the airport, so we were about an hour early. Better to be early than to miss our flight! Our flight was only delayed about 15 minutes which was very surprising as the weather was really foggy. Then, we finally made it to Xi'an!\

The only thing that freaks me out about China are the hawkers. As soon as we got out of the airport (not even!) there were people asking us if we needed a hotel or needed a taxi. Knowing that there were dodge cab drivers in Beijing, I knew that they would be here too because it's another touristy area. We were going to catch a cab but changed our mind and decided to catch the shuttle bus into the city, which was about 7 dollars for the both of us. Lucky we did, because I researched when we got to the hotel that the taxi drivers at the airport weren't the proper ones, so my gut instincts were right on it! It took us about an hour to get into the city by bus, but it was worth it, blending in with the locals again! As soon as we reached the city and got off the bus, there were more hawkers. Old ladies selling us maps, men asking if you wanted a ride on their scooter. It was crazy! Thank goodness our hotel was walking distance from the bus stop and it felt good to settle in after a day of travelling.

We rested up, and decided to eat because we were both starving and hadn't eaten a proper meal. There was a restaurant downstairs from our apartment that did dim sum both for lunch and dinner! So we decided to have dinner there. One of the servers could speak filipino so that was funny! I ordered a 'Terracotta' cocktail for 28 yuan, which is about 4 dollars AU, and it made me tipsy haha. Vodka, Gin, Pineapple and grapefruit juice it was amazing! Definitely bringing that concoction back to Australia!

Now we're back at the apartment getting ready for another couple of hectic days!

This was awesome. It was like honey prawn on garlic bread!

More yummy food

Egg tarts. The pastry was so flaky and different to the ones in Australia
