After being in transit for over 15 hours, we finally made it to China. It was a bit of an ordeal. Our connecting flight to Beijing was cancelled but they managed to get us another plane which meant that we were going to be delayed. We were stuck in Hong Kong for 4 hours! And it was hilarious because no one knew what was happening, there were delays and gate changes and when we asked what was happening there was no answer! Haha. We were lucky because when we went to the front counter to ask, and they changed the gate so we had to take 2 buses just to get to our gate! Because of this, we were lucky to meet a man named Paul from Perth, who was going to Beijing for business. He gave us some pointers which we have taken on board! For example, the whole pushing and shoving thing, you can't tell them to wait, so you just have to go with the flow and do it too. We have kinda been doing it. I'm still not used to it!
When we arrived it Beijing it was great. Actually, it felt good after a long day!
We caught a cab to our hotel. The taxi drivers don't speak English, so you have to make sure that you have your address in Chinese or else they can't help you! It was a great ride. My husband Lee loved it. They way they drive is manic! They don't indicate when they change lanes, speed (the speed limit was 120kms so they drove faster than that) and beep at cars and tailgate them when they're too slow. Lee said that he would love driving here because that's how he drives in Sydney!
Anyway, it was too late and we were too tired to roam the streets of Beijing, so we will be doing that tomorrow.
Good night!
