Happy Australia Day: Melbourne Long Weekend

L to R: Coffee & Champagne @ The Boatbuilders Yard, Mussels @ Bistro Guillaume and Brunch @ a place that I forgot! Sorry!
The Boatbuilders Yard @ 23 South Wharf Promenade, South Wharf VIC: Good food, good atmosphere and great location | Bistro Guillaume @ The Riverside at Crown VIC: Inexpensive French food, with a great view of the Crown promenade and river
I love the Australia Day long weekend. It's all about embracing our Australian Heritage and celebrating how good Australia is!

My girlfriends and I decided to do a Melbourne Long weekend getaway leaving the Sydney life for a few days. Melbourne is so different to Sydney. It's artistic, cultural, culinary and just laid back awesome! What was even better was that every Australia Day long weekend is the Australian Open tennis finals!

From top L: Free Piano playing in the streets of Melbourne, M-R: National Gallery of Victoria, Bottom L-R: Drinks @ Go Go Bar and Dinner @ Chin Chin
National Gallery of Victoria @ 180 St Kilda Road, Melbourne: Amazing collection of works from all cultures and centuries. Free entry. | Go Go Bar @ Higson Lane (or enter via Chin Chin Restaurant): Cool and trendy downstairs bar. Where you have to wait to get into Chin Chin restaurant. Reasonable prices, great atmosphere! | Chin Chin Restaurant @ 125 Flinders Lane, Melbourne: Tasty fusion food, fast service, always buzzing, though a long wait! No bookings allowed but well worth the wait. Try the tasting platter to save time on figuring out what to order!
From Top L: Chuckle Park, M-R: Madame Brussels, Bottom L: Australian Open, M-R: Atrium Bar @ Crown Casino
Chuckle Park @ 322 Little Collins Street, Melb: Didn't go in, but found the cute little place by accident. Has a cool website! | Madame Brussels @ Level 3, 59-63 Bourke Street, Melb: An inconspicuous entry, but worth the travel up if you don't want to use the lift. They bring the outside in and the inside out. Great place to chill and an interesting cocktail menu | Australian Open Finals @ Olympic Boulevarde, Melb: Free trams from the CBD and back if you have your tickets. We didn't have court seats but sat outside on the grass. Great energy, minimal food outlets so I suggest you bring your own. | Atrium Bar at Crown @ Main Casino Floor, 8 Whiteman Street, Southbank: Always busy. This bar was ok though the bartender got our orders way wrong so we didn't have to pay for our drinks. It's ok, but would recommend going to another bar in the Casino.

There's always something to do in Melbourne. Whether it be to see the amazing sights, do eat at some fancy restaurants or even searching the alleyways to find some amazing artwork, funky cafes or interesting bars. Melbourne has it all! A couple of days in Melbourne will blow your mind. Definitely come to Melbourne if you're coming to Australia!

Until then,
-V
