Guilin: Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill, Two Rivers and Four Pagodas and the night markets

Yay! We finally got to do some sightseeing! After having some much deserved rest, we trekked out to see what was out there! We unfortunately got lost finding Elephant Trunk Hill, so we lost some time there!! I didn't think Guilin was that small!

We decided to catch a cab to Reed Flute Cave, as that was further out from the City. Reed Flute Cave is like our Jenolan Caves in Sydney. It was amazing. The lighting in the cave really accentuated the beauty. For each section of the cave, was a connecting story. Unfortunately the tour guide was speaking in Chinese (we kinda latched on to a Chinese Tour Group to help guide us inside) but never the less, it was still amazing!

Reed Flute Cave - Amazing!

They say it looks like mushrooms, and they really do!

The most famous area in the cave. Beautiful!

And here it is in a different colour

We then caught a cab back to Elephant Trunk Hill, because I still wanted to see it. Basically, the mountain looks like an Elephant drinking water, hence the name. Can you believe that we also climbed the thing! It was the Great Wall all over again. My legs were jelly by the time we went up and back down again but the view was great!

Me and a happy little elephant

And of course the backside of one!

Elephant Trunk Hill = Beautiful!

We then waited for the sun to set to see the two rivers and four lakes. I wanted to see it because it looked amazing in the pictures, and the pictures certainly didn't lie. All attractions have really good meanings to them. My have website while we're here on holiday is www.travelchinaguide.com. All info I get is from there including history, directions, opening hours and even recommended time to spend at the attraction. Definitely my best friend right now! So, more info about the two rivers and four lakes can be found here: http://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/guangxi/guilin/two-rivers-four-lakes.htm

The pagodas before nightfall

The pagodas lit up.  Beautiful

4 pagodas instead of 2. Perfect setting!

Walking back to our hotel, we dropped by the night markets which is right around the corner from where we're staying. The night market was ok, the markets here tend to sell more trinket like stuff, so we didn't get anything which is probably good for our sakes! After a long day, we made it back to our hotel as we have an early start tomorrow seeing Li River. Finally get to see that landscape that's on the 20 Yuan bill! Can't wait!

The night markets. Open until 2am everyday. Heaven!
